IN-OFFICE TEETH WHITENING POST-OPERATIVE CARE INSTRUCTIONS and After Care Instructions for Fillings

For a long-lasting, bright, and healthy smile, the first 48 hours following whitening treatment are crucial for maximizing your whitening results.

Dark stains should be avoided for the following 48 hours, such as:

  • Coffee / Tea
  • Tobacco products
  • Mustard / Ketchup /Soy sauce
  • Cola’s
  • Red Wine
  • Berry pies
  • Red Sauces
  • Avoid Lipsticks or anything that would stain a white shirt

Suggestions of white and clear foods you may consume for the next 48 hours:

  • Milk, water, clear sodas
  • Bananas, apples (no peel)
  • White bread, flour tortillas
  • Oatmeal, cream of wheat
  • Plain yogurts, white cheese, sour cream, cottage cheese
  • White rice, baked potato
  • Plain pasta and white sauce
  • Turkey, chicken breast (no skin), and white fish

Additional ways to maintain your sparkling white smile:

  • Avoid staining related habits
  • Use an automated toothbrush, we suggest Sonicare
  • To preserve oral health, reduce discoloration, and assess the need for touch-up whitening, visit your dentist for dental hygiene care.
  • Maintain good dental hygiene by brushing your teeth thoroughly, using floss to get rid of food particles in between your teeth, and cleaning your tongue.

Additionally, you can feel some tooth sensitivity after surgery. Take 3 normal Advil or Motrin tablets containing 600 mg of ibuprofen every 4 hours as needed for pain if you have any sensitivity or the sensitivity is severe. In the weeks following the procedure, it is strongly advised that you brush your teeth with desensitizing toothpaste, such as Crest Sensitivity, Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief, or Sensodyne.

Excellent experience with amazing results and truly wonderful staff all around! From the moment you walk into the office, you are greeted and the staff make you feel welcome and even calm the nerves. I am always so nervous when visiting dentists and the staff take the time to also explain what you are in for. I went in for a teeth whitening, something I have been so nervous about and Dr. Rhea Antolin is so calming and reassuring about the process. I could not believe how white my teeth were after one session so I decided to come back for another. You will not be disappointed with your results and the entire experience will be smooth and worth it!

I just recently started coming to Garden Valley Family & Cosmetic dentistry and they are top notch. Even throughout this whole chaotic pandemic they still seem to get the job done so well while keep us and them safe. Garden Valley really goes the extra mile for their patients. I really recommend coming to them for any dental needs!
